Kerry's foot buffet

It looks like I'm not the only one taking Kerry to task for recent statements, although Jane's righteous indignation comes from another quarter. The statement in question -

"Does that mean allies are going to trade their young for our young in body bags? I know they are not. I know that," he said.

And did he try to spin it? Oh, yes. Yes indeed, he did.

Asked about that statement later, Mr. Kerry said, "When I was referring to that, I was really talking about Germany and France and some of the countries that had been most restrained."

"Other countries are obviously more willing to accept responsibilities," he added, as he took questions from reporters in a school yard in Tipton, Iowa.

"Trade their young for our young in body bags", "accept responsibilities"; it's all the same side of a coin, right? To be straight about it, John, it all depends on who you're calling an ally - Saddam's friends, or the people who chose to stand with us.
