The New Republic of Afghanistan

If you read only one blog post about the Afghan election, Jeremy's at American Warmonger would be the one I'd suggest.

Unless you've been hiding at the center of the earth, or Kerry's team, you should know by now that Afghanistan had its first elections...ever. (The center of the earth analogy was used because even those in Afghanistan's caves know about this.) October 9th, 2004 will be the date that Afghanistan has been legitimized as a sovereign nation with direct leadership of someone of their own choosing. There were no bombings, no beheadings, nothing.

Plenty of links to excellent pictures as well.

The way the press has handled the voting in Afghanistan has been a real shame. Worse than a shame! The press can not afford to report anything that would validate the Bush administration. It is becoming comical.

It is also telling on how well the war on terror is going. I have a hard time believing that the terrorists did not want to try and disrupt the voting, and yet, nothing happened. Well, leave it to OUR press to supply the terrorism in belittling, or ignoring, the election.

I looked around the web and found that we had stopped two cars with bombs from entering Afghanistan a couple of days before elections. There were two small explosions close to election stations but nothing bigger than an m-80 or a half-stick. The lines didn't even budge.

Thank's for the compliment. I appreciate it.
